Safe and stylish solution

When it is necessary to lead exhaust pipes, ventilation pipes, or soil vent pipes through the roof, it is essential to have a solution that ensures both watertightness and aesthetics. Roof ventilation cowls from JUAL are designed precisely for this purpose and provide an efficient and elegant solution for roof penetrations in buildings with bitumen membrane sheet roofing.

Whether you are working on new construction, where modern requirements for energy efficiency and airtightness are in focus, or on renovation projects, where old roofs need to be upgraded with reliable solutions, JUAL’s ventilation cowls are a solid choice. The products are developed to meet building regulation requirements for roof penetrations and to ensure long-lasting performance and operational reliability – without compromising on visual appearance.

What is a ventilation cowl?

A ventilation cowl is a protective component placed over roof openings where pipes are led up for ventilation, exhaust or soil stacks. It functions both as a barrier against the ingress of water and debris and as an aesthetic finishing detail for the roof penetration.

At JUAL, the ventilation cowls are supplied with a flange, allowing the bitumen roofing membrane to be welded directly onto the cowl. This creates a completely watertight transition between the roof covering and the installation.

Functionality and technical reliability

Our ventilation cowls are manufactured from robust, weather-resistant materials that can withstand UV radiation, rain, frost, snow and extreme temperature fluctuations – exactly the conditions that challenge roof constructions most in the Nordic climate. The cowls are designed to operate reliably all year round, ensuring that exhaust pipes and ventilation penetrations remain protected against moisture and water ingress.

The tight installation, where the bitumen roofing membrane is welded directly to the cowl’s flange, creates a water- and vapour-tight transition that eliminates the risk of leaks around the penetration. This significantly extends the service life of both the roof covering and the underlying roof structure, as moisture problems are often the cause of rot, mould and damage to insulation and timber.

Architectural integration

A well-executed building requires that even the technical details are integrated into the overall design. That is why our ventilation cowls are developed with a focus on visual consistency and a clean, elegant appearance. The cowls give the roof a professional and finished look, even when there are multiple penetrations.

At JUAL, we understand that aesthetics and functionality must go hand in hand – which is why we offer solutions that match the roof’s geometry and expression, ensuring that the overall visual impression is preserved regardless of the building’s architectural style.
