Ridge ventilation
Used for structural venting on the ridge of the pitched roof. It is nailed or screwed to the ridge and covered with roofing felt.
Efficient ventilation solution for pitched roofs
Proper ventilation of the roof structure is essential for a healthy building, and ridge ventilation plays a central role – especially on pitched roofs. JUAL’s ridge ventilation is a simple yet effective solution for ventilating roof spaces and construction cavities, mounted directly at the roof ridge and discreetly concealed under bitumen.
The solution is ideal for both new builds and renovation projects, where natural air circulation in the upper part of the roof is required while maintaining a tight, durable, and aesthetically pleasing roof covering.
Why choose ridge ventilation?
In roof spaces and insulated structures, stagnant air and moisture can lead to damage such as condensation, rot, and mould growth – especially in the Nordic climate, where temperature differences increase the risk of condensation. Ridge ventilation enables the natural updraft of warm, humid air that accumulates at the top of the roof, allowing it to escape through the ridge.
By combining ridge ventilation with ventilation openings further down the roof surface (e.g. at the eaves), an effective stack effect is created, ensuring constant air circulation in the roof space. This improves the indoor climate, protects the roof structure, and contributes to a longer lifespan for both insulation and roof covering.
Construction and installation
JUAL’s ridge ventilation is designed for easy and quick installation. It is nailed or screwed directly into the ridge – either into the rafters or the substrate – and integrated beneath the top layer of bitumen. The construction ensures ventilation through shielded openings, preventing rain and snow from penetrating while still allowing free air passage.
The product is compatible with standard bitumen solutions and can be adapted to different ridge angles and construction types. This provides a solution suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
Practical applications
Ridge ventilation is particularly recommended for buildings with:
- Pitched roofs with ventilated roof structures
- Cold roofs or unheated roof spaces
- Roof constructions with bitumen covering
- High levels of insulation, where ventilation is essential
It can be combined with other ventilation solutions from JUAL, such as Shedlock (fish), roof ventilations, or soil pipe ventilation tops, to create a complete and coherent ventilation strategy.
Technical support and documentation
As part of JUAL’s professional ventilation programme, we offer technical advice, installation guides, and product data sheets that make it easy to integrate ridge ventilation into your project – both in the design and execution phases. Our documentation ensures that you work with precise dimensions and correct installation, saving time and minimising errors on site.
If you require special adaptations, such as for irregular ridge angles, specific material requirements, or integration with existing solutions, we can also provide customised solutions. Everything is manufactured in our own factory, giving us flexibility and fast delivery – even for complex or time-critical tasks. Our technical team is ready to support you all the way from concept to completed project.
