Back Pressure Seal

The Back Pressure Seal is used for connecting JUAL roof drains and downpipes where a type-approved, pressure-tight joint is required that can withstand water pressure of up to 1 meter water column. The back pressure seal is thus installed a maximum of 1 meter below the highest water level that can occur on the roof.

Back pressure seal – reliable sealing against water pressure

When it comes to effective and regulation-compliant sealing of roof drainage systems, JUAL’s back pressure seal is an indispensable component. The gasket is used to create a pressure-tight and type-approved connection between an outlet and a downpipe – especially in situations where the system is exposed to backflow and water pressure.

With correct installation, the gasket protects against leaks and damage caused by high water levels on flat roofs, where rainwater backflow may occur in connection with, for example, cloudbursts or blocked drains.

Application and function

The back pressure seal is used in situations where you want to:

  • Ensure a type-approved and certified watertight connection
  • Achieve resistance to water pressure up to 1 metre water column
  • Prevent water damage at critical levels in the roof drainage system
  • Comply with building regulations and technical requirements

The back pressure seal is mounted between the outlet and the downpipe and must be positioned no more than 1 metre below the highest possible water level on the roof. In this way, it acts as a barrier against backflow and pressure from water masses that may occur during extreme weather events.

Installation and positioning

Correct installation is crucial to the seals performance. Always follow JUAL’s installation guidelines, which specify, among other things:

  • The back pressure seal must be placed within 1 metre below the maximum water level

  • The joint must be clean and free of impurities before insertion

  • The back pressure seal must not be deformed or damaged during installation

With correct installation, you achieve a long-lasting seal that can withstand high loads and ensure that the drainage system functions optimally – even under severe weather conditions.

Advantages of the back pressure seal

  • Pressure-tight up to 1 metre water column
  • Type-approved solution
  • Prevents leaks and backflow
  • Simple and safe installation
  • Long service life and high material strength

The back pressure seal is a natural part of JUAL’s complete range of roof drainage, outlets and accessories, developed with a focus on both functionality and documentation.

JUAL’s back pressure seal is type-approved in accordance with current standards and meets the sealing requirements for both public and private construction projects.
